Just a quick note to expand on the quick info, I'm now away on my summer holidays from the 2nd until the 7th September.

Between these dates, there's no chance of me having any access to a computer - and consequently, able to provide any support for the modules and features here. If you do experience any problems, please disable MyNetwork or the problematic feature and post in the General Support thread, and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Many apologies to those who are experiencing issues already noted - I did try and get through them today but had to do some defacto MyBB work and finish my duties at my regular job before I went away. I promise to look into them as soon as I get back, and for the most of the problems, already figured out what the problems are.

For those interested or of the stalker-kind, I'm off to New York.

Last week, intenso proposed a cool idea for a new feature for MyNetwork - Custom Post Reputation.

This feature lets you provide post reputation icons that you want to add, not just + or - buttons tacked onto posts. You can set which usergroups can use which tags, and in which forums, and you can even decide whether guests can vote too. All using nice inline javascript. Of course, it still works for those without javascript too.

For more information on this feature, it's available at the Custom Post Reputation Support page. Please note that this is the first premium feature available, and you will need a premium Gecko ID to download it. Get one today and be ready for the next big thing to hit MyBB - full Facebook integration!

You can see Custom Post Reputation in action in this post here. Hover over the text in the post to reveal the voting options, and click awaaaay!...

Custom Post Reputation is available for download. There are just two issues; "Hello world" (what a classic) is still the default text in the ACP tab descriptions, and the other is malformed voting counts - which probably will never happen. If it does, please let know!
I was looking at my profile here on Xekko and I noticed that there are tabs for different areas of the profile (this is good).
Will it possible for us to add our own extra custom tabs? Like if you see my profile on my own site you will see that I have a big area for my uploaded items. It would be neat if I could add that as a custom tab.

Hi Tomm,

I had an idea for a possible neat extension on MYNetwork, and would have liked to post it as an idea - but no MyTracker idea system anymore

So, hmm, here is my idea -

I have a gravatar that I can use on sites around the Internet. I can post on a site and if I enter my gravatar registered mail address then my post shows my gravatar - even if I am not a registered member. Very neat IMO.

As a big part of MYNetwork (IMO) is enabling interaction with the web outside the forum walls then I wondered if you could make this Gravatar Enabling part of the posts module? And don't say what post module - thats the one you haven't made yet

Hi Tomm, me again......

Based on the information on the MYBB community forum I updated the Quick Theme plugin to 1.6 by changing its "compatible with" data from 1.4 to 1.6.

All was good until I attempted to move a pm using the "pm when moving a post" feature: I got this message

/customers/leefish.nl/leefish.nl/httpd.www/mybb/inc/network/languages/english/usercp.lang.php does not exist

This happened when I clicked the "GO" button. I went to check in my ftp and indeed it was not there. Its not in the MyNetwork core download file either. So I guess it never was.

Its a real shame, because I love the quick theme plug in. Is there anything that can be done?

Aren't things more fun when beta testing stuff?

http://www.facebook.com/apps/application...1065568053

OK, I can't keep this under wraps for much longer. I have been working on Facebook Integration for MyBB and with lots of people asking lots of questions, here's a sneak peak. And yes, it works on shared servers - using similar methods that Invision uses.

As the link above shows, there is a MyNetwork Facebook application. This is Xekko Resources' own connection to Facebook that lets modules and features post things to Facebook. The integration goes into the Profile System - if you post a new status on the forum, you can post it onto Facebook too. Another use is when posting a new thread - you can post a link to it directly to your wall. Not to mention the ability to create events, a photo album or a new group with additional MyNetwork Modules.

In the above image (which is from my profile on Facebook), the first item is a new thread link (which shows an excerpt from the thread) and the second item is a status update. Oh, and it can also update to Twitter too. Of course, using these new functions is really easy. The code? As easy as this:

Easy as pie. And the best part? If you only want Twitter integration and not Facebook Integration in your Profile System, you don't have to install it. All you need to do is create a new application on Facebook for your own website to connect with (which is easy as cooking an egg) and away you go.

PHP Code:

if(!$network->facebook['access_token'])
{
    $network->facebook->getSession();
}

$new_status = array(
    "access_token" => $network->facebook['access_token'],
    "message" => "and this will be the new status on Facebook, and on the forum of course!"
);

// Post to Facebook?
if($network->facebook['access_token'])
{
    $network->facebook->post_status($new_status);
}

// Post to Twitter?
if($network->twitter['post_status'] == 1)
{
    $network->twitter->post_status($new_status);
}

is it somehow possible to get the latest mytracker version to work on myBB 1.6?
I'd love to be able to continue using this modification.
Edit: Found the solution, changing compatibility to 1.6*
One more question: I actually set permissions so only one usergroup can access the bugtracker and post new issues/write comments etc. however everyone can. Is there a way to fix that?

It's with great pleasure to finally make MyNetwork Core for 1.6 available to the general public!

The main fundamentals of MyNetwork have switched from being primarily a profile system to becoming a complete modular plugin system seperate from MyBB's own plugin system. You might be thinking this is a waste of space, as MyBB already has an awesome plugin system - but when you think of all the plugins, templates, files and custom language things you add when you install a plugin, it's easy to be lost.

MyNetwork eliminates these problems. It mimics MyBB's systems - such as the Template System, to make sure things remain seperate while still interacting with your forum, and easily removed when you no longer want them. It doesn't only mimic - it extends too. You can add new template groups, create custom language strings or entirely new language files direct from your ACP - right down to creating new default templates. It doesn't only provide new features for your users, but also helps you get started making your own MyBB plugins.

MyNetwork Core v1.0.0
Please note that the Core Module and Features should be treated as being in a beta stage. Although all of these have been installed here at Xekko (a 'normal' shared hosting environment) and a high powered server enviroment for over a month on 1.6, and testing for longer (around 4 months) on 1.4. So, it stands that it's pretty stable.

There may still be errors in the software that we didn't detect. For these instances, check up in the MyNetwork Support docs before posting in the support forum.

Subscriptions
MyNetwork Core and Features are currently free. You can download them by visiting the MyNetwork Resources area, and on the right, selecting the signup page and activating your Basic Gecko ID. You can also purchase a Premium Gecko ID, however there is no added benefits at the moment. If you purchase a subscription now, when a premium module is released in the future and you download it, the subscription will automatically be extended by a year.

You'll receive a PM when new Premium resources are available too.

Licence
Please take a second to look at the MyNetwork licence before downloading MyNetwork. It's pretty important.

Downloading
What are you waiting for???!!!! You can download these Features right now for MyNetwork Core:

Auto Upgrade

Custom Language Editor

Move PM

Post Reputation

Post Tagging

Relative Time

Please note that only Auto Upgrade is not working - because you need a future 1.6 version for it to work!

MyNetwork Core itself doesn't add that many new features, but feel free to give it and all the features a whirl and test for bugs and things and report them in the MyNetwork General Support forum here on Xekko. For those interested in the Profile System Module for MyNetwork, it's currently in the last stages of testing.

Download MyNetwork

I really hope you all enjoy MyNetwork as much as I've spent the last 18 months working and fine tuning it. These past 18 months have been literally life changing, so it's really nice to get something that I started a long time ago out to the public.

I happily accept criticisms and suggestions on how to improve my software - I know I'm a really lazy coder, and I do tend to have a 'just work, dammit' attitude to it, so if you see any performance enhancements in the code where you think it'll improve the software, please feel free to let me know.

Many thanks,

Thursday, 5th August 2010 will see Xekko upgrading to 1.6. The downtime is expected to start around 8.30 BST (GMT +1).

The MyNetwork Core here will also be upgraded, and if there's no major problems, I'll be launching beta versions of the MyNetwork Core module along with the following features:

Auto Upgrade

Custom Language Editor

Move PM

Post Reputation

Post Tagging

Relative Time

These features will be fully functional (except for Auto Upgrade, which of course, requires a future MyBB upgrade!) with 1.6. For those who are using MyNetwork Core for 1.4, it's probably best to upgrade as there's plenty of new features in the Core, as well as new changes to the Template System.

Subscriptions
MyNetwork Core will cost 0€. That's right. It's free. As are the inital features that are available. Previously this was going to be a premium plugin, but to be honest, I can't keep the wraps on something this cool. So basically, anybody who is registered here is able to get a Basic Gecko ID. This lets you get your mits on the Core and some of the more standard features we'll be chugging out.

A Premium Gecko ID costs 7.50€ - roughly $10 or £6.25. Or in easy terms, the cost of a beer and a burger at Wetherspoons. This Gecko ID gives you access to premium updates, beta releases and the chance to get your own customisations on your forum to MyNetwork Features (as well as a few other little perks - such as themes and language packs).

It might not seem that much, but a beer and burger is gratefully appreciated!

Those who've already sent donations to help buy beer and enough cans of coke to build a small airplane will get a lifetime licence.

I'm finally happy to say that I'm really excitied about tomorrow!
