I am really glad that my network is promising in making MYBB to have an inbuilt SNS.
But recently ,one guy requested in mybb forums ,where he mentioned about the SNS plugin for PHPBB3.
Out with curiosity,i just checked the phpbb site,and in the demo site i logged in.

What i found was there is complete transformation of default layout,it has a wall,where you can share your status,and users can comment it.
Also the friend approval system,ajax based notifications,the best part being an instant messenger.

I thought it was awesome !!!!!!!and wanted to test how smooth it is !!!
created another test account,and just made mutual frnds,and it is so smooth,even better than what we see in facebook.

I think this really needs some attention,and if it is possible in phpbb3,i think it would be possible in mybb too!!!!!
so i request pluginers,to have a look at it,and please try to import or create new one.

@Tomm,i hope my network future releases,shows some sort of this kind of a mod,that makes mybb more powerful.

SNS is a good project, shame about using the wrong software to build it. MyBB would be perfect to handle it, and it's more than possible to create something like SNS.

It's pretty much what the Profile System is doing to MyBB, except it's just overwriting the profiles and not the whole board.

@Tomm,that is absolutely awesome,yeah,if we add a new page like in sns,so we can show the users statuses and an inbuilt comment system,that would be an epic release.
I pretty much liked the instant messenger system,which is ajax im,rather smooth than facebook ,as i used it on a demo.
Also notification system is awesome,it is instant,fast,just like facebook,may be a jquery magic.
Yeah Phpbb3 is absolutely a wrong choice.

Really, if you wanted to start an SNS, you'd use Diaspora or something. The whole reason you would install phpBB is to run a forum, and that's the same reason why MyNetwork doesn't overtake the entire board - just the places you would expect to see social networking-type features.

Hmm yeah what u said was absolutely correct.
But we already have well established mybb forums,
So we cant have a diaspora use for now.
Yeah my network is really awesome,when is the full fledged profile system is abt to release????
The status and comment system....can we expect soon!!
